LANSING, Mich. — Sen. Tom Barrett celebrated National Reading Month by reading to second-grade students at Wacousta Elementary School in Grand Ledge on March 1.
“Reading to children at a young age can help them develop an interest in learning, foster a creative spirit and build self-confidence,” said Barrett, R-Charlotte. “It is always a great time sharing a love of reading to young people, and I want to thank teachers Katie Dufresne and Deb McCrumb for having me come read to their students.”
In an effort to promote the importance of reading, Barrett will continue reading to students at local elementary schools throughout the month. Teachers who would like Barrett to stop by their classrooms can contact his office at 517-373-3447 to schedule a visit.
